Weight Loss Program

Struggling with weight loss can be frustrating and emotionally draining. Our Medical Weight Loss program is designed to provide a comprehensive and tailored approach to weight loss. Combining dietary changes, exercise plans, and medical treatments as necessary, we aim to help you achieve and maintain a healthy weight, enhancing your overall health and well-being.

There are also several weight loss medications that can be discussed during the appointment to see what might best help you meet your goals.

Here's a brief description of some of them:

  1. Orlistat (Xenical, Alli): This medication works by reducing the amount of dietary fat your body absorbs from food. Xenical is the prescription version, while Alli is available over-the-counter.
  2. Phentermine-topiramate (Qsymia): This is a combination of two drugs: phentermine, which suppresses the appetite, and topiramate, which is intended to make food seem less appealing.
  3. Naltrexone-bupropion (Contrave): This drug combines naltrexone, which is usually given to treat addiction, and bupropion, which is often prescribed for depression and smoking cessation. It's thought to work by influencing the hypothalamus (the part of your brain that controls appetite) and the mesolimbic dopamine circuit (the reward system).
  4. Liraglutide (Saxenda): This is a higher dose of the type 2 diabetes drug Victoza. It mimics a hormone that targets areas of the brain that regulate appetite.
  5. Semaglutide (Wegovy): Approved by the FDA in 2021, this is a once-weekly injection that's a higher dose of the type 2 diabetes drug Ozempic. It's a GLP-1 receptor agonist and works similarly to Liraglutide.
  6. Phentermine (Adipex-P, Lomaira): This is a stimulant that decreases appetite. It's usually prescribed for three to six weeks to people who are exercising and eating a low-calorie diet.

Aesthetics

Dysport is a highly effective injectable treatment designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, particularly around the forehead and between the eyebrows. This unique neuromodulator works by temporarily blocking nerve signals to muscles, allowing for a smoother, more youthful complexion. The result is a refreshed, rejuvenated look that maintains your natural expressiveness.

Restylane is a pioneering dermal filler that works wonders to restore volume and fullness in the skin, effectively smoothing away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Composed of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body, Restylane provides immediate results, replenishing skin volume while promoting hydration. This treatment can also be used to augment the lips, creating a plump, more defined appearance.

Sculptra stands out in the realm of dermal fillers, working gradually to stimulate your skin's natural collagen production. Unlike other fillers that simply fill in wrinkles, Sculptra goes a step further, helping to restore the underlying structure of the skin for a more youthful-looking appearance over time. Ideal for areas with significant volume loss like the cheeks and temples, Sculptra provides long-lasting, natural-looking results.

Allergy Treatment

Sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) is an innovative approach to treating allergies. Instead of injections, it involves placing a small dose of an allergen under the tongue to boost tolerance to the substance and reduce allergic symptoms over time.

SLIT is typically administered at home in the form of allergy drops or tablets, following an initial dose in a doctor's office to monitor for any adverse reactions. The allergens are usually taken daily and treatment can last for several months to years, depending on the severity of the allergy and the individual's response to therapy.

SLIT has proven effective for treating allergies to various substances, including dust mites, grass and tree pollens, cat dander, and ragweed. Studies have shown it can reduce symptoms, improve quality of life, and potentially prevent the development of new allergies or the progression of allergic disease.

This non-invasive treatment option is especially beneficial for patients who are unable to undergo allergy shots due to needle phobia, an inability to regularly visit a doctor's office, or other medical contraindications. However, as with all treatments, it's essential to discuss with a healthcare provider to understand the potential benefits and risks.
